What Camera Do YouTubers Use

If you’re starting out as a YouTube vlogger, or you’ve been making videos for a while, and you’re looking to upgrade your camera, you may have wondered what type of equipment your favorite famous YouTuber uses.

When YouTube launched in 2005, plenty—actually, practically all—YouTubers filmed their videos with potatoes, judging by the quality of content from that time period. YouTube has changed a lot since the mid-2000s, which is a century ago in internet years, and these days, most YouTubers are making videos using high-end cameras capable of producing incredible video and sound quality.

Famous YouTubers and their favorite vlogging cameras

As a vlogger, then, it makes perfect sense that you’d like to find out what cameras, specifically, the most successful names on YouTube are using in 2016, and beyond. That’s why I’ve developed this exhaustive list of 33 famous YouTubers and their favorite cameras. I’ve also included my sources, so you know when and where these famous faces revealed their trusty equipment.

Because I’m a YouTuber too, I must say this: Using the same camera as your favorite YouTube star does not guarantee that you will be as successful as they are. No matter how much money you invest in equipment owned by the biggest content creators, the only way to be successful on YouTube is to make content that you love, and make it with as much passion and energy as you possibly can. Anything else is not worth viewers’ time, and definitely not your own.

Note: If a well-known YouTuber is not listed here, it’s because I was unable to find out which camera they use. Do you know the camera a YouTuber uses, but don’t see it mentioned? Please contact me, and I’ll be more than happy to add it. Also, I do my best to keep this page up to date, but please keep me informed if you know of a YouTuber I’ve mentioned who has upgraded their camera, and no longer uses the one listed below.

Happy vlogging! -Brian
